Company
This is one topic Mom was not big on...COMPANY! Not only was ther limited friends or sleepover's, we barely could go stay at anyone elses house over night. I'm sure she had her reasons! We slid a few friends in for overnight stays but best believe it was because we were all going to church together!!! I still don't know how all of our cousins got out of this! Mom - thanks for letting the following company stay overnight: Terri Griffin, Robin Thompson, Marguerite Wallace. I think that's it for my friends!!! Thank you again for opening your home!!!!
Christmas Mornings
From the time I can remember all the way up until December 2008, Nedra and I called you to tell you what we got for Christmas. You expressed so much joy in your voice at our own happiness! it made us happy to know that you even found joy in the fact that we were happy. I remember that one Christmas morning (the year slips my mind) after opening a few gifts at home we headed to your house only to find our biggest surprise was waiting there with you! We got brand new bikes!!! Nedra, Jason, and I were so excited! Our bikes stayed at your house...go figure! I think by the time we were riding those ten speeds we could go further than the short end of the block. Mom and Babe may have even given us the opportunity to travel around the block one or two times at the most!!!
Don't forget we use to eat it with those tiny spoons to make it last for what seemed like forever!
I have to piggyback off of Nicol's "Sweets" memory. All is very true; however, you forgot the TABLESPOON of Sherbert Icecream that she gave us in the blue & white tea cup...that we used to stir until it was just right...then take an hour to eat it. We would try to convince Babe to give us more. Sometimes we would succeed, but most times he was just as scared of her as we were. Or so acted!
You use to braid our hair every week. Is that what made it grow or was it just the loving touch of your hands? Mom, I want my hair to grow again! Last night I braided it all over and Jazz said I looked just like you. I just hope that I can be as good of a women as you were. I will be that women...
