I have only slipped away into the next room. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without affect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? All is well. ~ Henry Scott Holland

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Mary Lee Hunt who was born in United States on February 2, 1919 and passed away on February 1, 2009. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

On January 25, 2009 Mary began her transition from this material world. From her bed at Henry Ford Hospital she began by saying good-bye to her children Michelle D. Parham and her husband Theodis, Margaret Williams, Colburn Hunt and Vilinda Green-Poole. She called her grandchildren Michelle Y., Marchan and her husband William, Marcus and his wife Lynda, Ryan, Randall and his wife Tamika, Nicol, Nedra, Jason and his wife Angel, David, Thomas, Carlton and Mikayla. She called her 28 great-grandchildren and spoke to those who could and sent her love to those who are too young to talk. She contacted or tried to contact sisters-in-law Lenora Grimes, Kizzie Hunt and Lillian Jones and brother-in-law James Hunt. She began calling nieces and nephews and cousins all around the country and friends she grew up with in Stanton Tennessee and classmates from Merry High. When you come from a family of twenty children and you're almost the last one to return home you understand why GOD gave her a whole week to make her calls and not just one day. Between January 25, 2009 and February 1, 2009 she contacted as many family members as she could and for those she couldn't reach she asked that they be told the following, "I love you, I'll miss you, but I look forward to seeing you again." Last but certainly not least she passed the Jones family torch to her only surviving sibling Elizabeth Ollison on February 1, 2009 at 10:24pm and left this earth to celebrate her 90th birthday with her husband of 53 years, Freddie O. Hunt, mother and father Olivia and Julius Jones, sisters Magnolia, Luberta and Marie, brothers Lewin, Curtis, Gilliam, Dorsey, Dan, Porter, Titus, Allen, Julius, Marshall, Jessie and Eddie as well as three siblings who returned home very soon after their arrival and grandson Andre Parham. One rarely uses their opportunity to say good-bye to personally grieve with and comfort their loved ones the way "Mom" did while preparing for the next chapter. Through selfishness those left behind fail to realize the greatness of going home. Mom is about to experience something each and every one of us is searching for here on earth... "Eternal Happiness, Unconditional Love & Perfect Health" Mom you created a wonderful family full of people who know how to love now because of the unconditional love that we were given. You will forever go on because in our hearts you will never die...LIVE FOREVER MARY LEE, you'll be loved forever! P.S. Happy birthday Mom, as promised you're wearing your red high heel shoes and we are too! A special thank you to Mom's home church Oak Grove A.M.E.
